The Bhagavad Gita is set on a battlefield called Kurukshetra and represents the internal battle we are all going through between what is good, expansive and true in us, and what is separate, selfish and grasping in us. This is the most important battle of our lives.

More specifically it represents the internal battle on the emotional plane that goes on within each of us. This is plane is also called the astral plane. In the ancient wisdom teachings we see that battles are often used as an analogy to describe the difficulty of the internal fight we undergo between our egos or lower self and our souls or higher selves.
